The Small Vessel Operator’s Proficiency is a four-day Transport Canada certification required to operate a small non-pleasure (commercial) vessel less than 5 Tonnes for Passenger and Cargo boats. This includes vessels such as crew boats, workboats, sport-fishing boats, whale-watching vessels, and Fishing Vessels less than 15 Gross.

Formerly known as Med-A3, Small Non-Pleasure Domestic Vessel Basic Safety is a one-day class concerned with emergencies that can happen onboard your small non-pleasure vessels, such as fire fighting, distress signals, man overboard, abandon ship, and cold water shock/hypothermia. It is required for crew on small non-pleasure vessels.
