Program Description
Work in a variety of settings, such as residential or group homes, transition houses or drop-in or overnight shelters. Community Service Workers often do community outreach work, visit clients, take clients on trips, and attend meetings with service providers. Compassion, active listening skills, social perceptiveness, and non-judgemental communication are key to becoming a successful Social Services and Community Support Worker.
This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

This program prepares graduates for a career as a Social Services Worker and related occupations in Community Support Worker roles. The graduates gain strong theoretical and practical skills required to confidently support community groups.
675 hours (approx. 34 weeks) of asynchronous, in-person or blended training, including 540 hours of theory training and a 135-hour practicum placement.
